Sharp THX-Certified 4K Ultra HDTV’s Are Now Available

Sharp has announced the immediate availability of their much anticipated 2014 4K AQUOS Ultra HDTV’s, which were showcased at CES 2014. The 60-inch (LC-60UD27U) and 70-inch (LC-70UD27U) THX 4K Certified Ultra HDTVs won our “Best Ultra HDTV of 2014” Award. Both models are available today on Amazon for $2,297 and $2,999, respectively.

2014 International CES is officially over, and we viewed a tremendous number of Ultra HD products and services at the show — significantly more than CES 2013. The development of Ultra High Definition over the past year has been extensive, and browsing the next generation technology on the show floors was truly astonishing.

We were blown away by the quality and efforts of nearly every Ultra HD company, but we were determined to find a winner for each Ultra HD category. After carefully reviewing the nominations for each of the Best of CES 2014 Awards categories, we are pleased to present the winners…*drumroll*

Sharp Announces Universal Player and Wireless Bridge at CES 2014

The innovators at Sharp have developed the Universal Player and Wireless Bridge, the first Wireless Speaker and Audio (WiSA™) Association- compliant Universal Player system. The Sharp Universal Player (SD-WH1000U) is the first Sharp component to transmit uncompressed sound at 24-bit/96kHz and video at Full HD (1080p) — wirelessly. Unlike previous sound systems that compressed the sound quality, the SD-WH1000U reproduces the source signal without degradation or delay.

Sharp’s “Art of Amazing 4K Film Competition” Launches with THX

Following the release of the 70″ class AQUOS® 4K Ultra HD LED television, the first TV to receive the coveted THX 4K certification for picture quality, Sharp Electronics Corporation, along with the help of two other expert voices in picture quality, THX and RED, has announced the “Art of Amazing 4K Film Competition.” Sharp is inviting independent filmmakers to celebrate the detail of 4K resolution by creating a short film (less than four minutes in length) that captures an amazing high resolution entertainment experience through “energy, light and scale.”
